She was also the only Palestinian to run in all of Canada in the 2021 federal election. She lives in Waterloo, Ontario with her partner and two dogs, and in her free time finds comfort and joy in practicing yoga, assembling LEGO sets, and being outdoors.

Workshops

  • This course offers an introductory-level understanding of the ways APR manifests in western society. It first defines the concept and examines the tropes of anti-Palestinian racism, unpacking the ways they manifest in concrete harm towards Palestinians and their allies. Beisan then shares approaches for participants to help identify and disempower APR when they are faced with it in their communities, workplaces, or the media. The training also creates time for a question period that allows participants to engage with the content in a thoughtful and generative manner.

  • This course is intended for those who have already taken APR 101, as it builds upon a foundational understanding of APR to create deeper connections to the material. Participants will be presented with a deeper understanding of Palestinian identity and history, an overview of how Palestinian human rights are intrinsically connected to other systemic forms of oppression, and present participants with tools and strategies that help them boost their confidence in advocating against APR. This session can either end with a question period, or a facilitated group assignment that challenges participants to apply their course learnings towards an audience-specific situation.

  • This course is specifically intended for parents, educators, and administrators in academic environments who are facing Anti-Palestinian Racism in their schools and universities. This course specifically focuses on the manifestations of APR in educational settings, from the harms experienced by Palestinian youth, to the censorship and silencing of Palestinian supporters, to the normalization of pro-Israel messaging within the guise and protection of antiracism education. This course aims to leave participants with tools to help them better advocate for the young people in their lives and protect the safety and inclusivity of educational spaces.
